Tal Ben Haim celebrates his goal (sport5) |
Ben Haim effectively killed off the visitors' comeback hopes by making it 3-0 on aggregate after 25 minutes in intense heat at Bloomfield Stadium, chasing down a long ball from Maharan Radi and outpacing Marko Dinjar before rolling it into the net. But for goalkeeper Luboš Kamenár, who saved from Ben Haim and Radi either side of the opener, Maccabi Tel-Aviv would have been out of sight by half-time.
However, the break brought scant relief for Győr; Sheran Yeini headed against the woodwork within seven minutes of the restart, Kamenár made another fine block to deny Gal Alberman, and Ben Haim managed to miss the target from three metres befor Zahavi got a head to Omri Altman's cross to make it 2-0. The only disappointment for the home side was that they failed to keep a clean sheet, substitute Leandro Martínez pouncing on an error from goalkeeper Juan Pablo late on.
