Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Swiss champions Basel in the UEFA Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round if they manage to to take advantage of the 2-0 lead that they hold in the 2nd Qualifying Round against Gyori and finish the job off next Tuesday in Tel Aviv. Basel were the best of the five teams that could have faced Maccabi as a result of the draw, and The Yellows' players will definitely be slightly less happy by the fact that they will be battling out for a place in the Champions League Play-Off round with them instead of any of the other teams. Strangely though, it was the Swiss who's initial reaction was of such a tone, with their captain Marco Streller saying: " Maccabi was the hardest team to be drawn against and we saw the way they played against Gyori in their 2-0 win". However the Basel Hard-man also said: " We have a slight advantage because our league season already started".
